Walking the Walk

We talk about walking the walk and talking the talk, but what does that really mean. The question I pose here is what do you really believe and what do you know for sure.

What I know for sure is that you have to be true to yourself. Every day. I invite you to explore your beliefs in an in depth manner. There are many roads to truth and one is no better than the other. For me, the road is Reiki. By the consistent study and practice of Reiki and the Reiki principles, the universe continues to show me who I really am. Sometimes these truths are revealed to me in an inspirational and enlightening manner and, more frequently, I am shown the way through my life experiences.

Last night, I attended a Firewalk event hosted by Soria Center for Education and Inspiration. What I learned as an assistant to the Director, Jennifer Sullivan, and as a participant in the event was invaluable. I learned that I am a good friend and that I have good friends. I also learned that if I trust in myself and always do the "next right thing", I can never go wrong.

Accompanied by a crew of traditional drummers, there was much ritual in the building and burning of the fire over several hours until it reached the right stage. Once perfect, the coals were spread out and became a shimmering liquid bed of energy. As we walked, faith became magic as we came out untarnished on the other side. In my excitement that the fire wasn't hot, I did, however, lose my focus when I got out of the fire and stepped on a burning ember outside of the fire bed. Oops! That's my analytical mind coming into play once again, (another life lesson revealed to me!). Healed with lavender and reiki it won't leave a scar but will remind me over the next few days that I need to stop thinking so much!

Earlier in the evening, Jennifer brought out a suitcase filled with broken liquor bottles. I watched (and analyzed) the participants and was able to understand the physics involved and I knew that, with the right mindset, I could walk across a field of broken glass. I did. It was a great experience.

Another firewalk is scheduled for next month in conjunction with The Institute for Therapeutic Massage. I'll be sending details in my next newsletter and posting it on this blog. Stay tuned for the next adventure!
